Dolly Parton will be by Miley Cyrus‘ side as she rings in 2023 for NBC’s yearly New Year’s Eve programme.

The pop sensation announced the news in a social media post with the hashtag “#NewYearNewCohost @dollyparton” and a picture of herself hugging her well-known, iconic godmother. In the picture, Cyrus flaunts a chic navy blue party dress and a centre part on her blonde hair, while Parton looks stunning in a metallic gold dress of her own.

The two performers have collaborated before; they most memorably sang Dolly’s hit song, Jolene, on stage together and appeared in a Super Bowl commercial in February of this year.

On the network’s official social media handle, NBC also posted a humorous promotional clip of Cyrus and Parton in which the former is heard saying, “Miley’s New Year’s Eve party is about getting glamorous and dressing your best.”

“Well, we do that every day — don’t we, Miley?” Before their duet rendition of Jolene begins, Parton adds, “You taught me well,” to which her goddaughter responds.

The second edition of Miley’s New Year’s Eve Party, which is scheduled to air live from Miami on December 31, will be Cyrus’ second consecutive year of dominating NBC’s year-end events.

Cyrus and Pete Davidson served as the show’s co-hosts the previous year, and Anitta, Billie Joe Armstrong, Jack Harlow, Brandi Carlile, Saweetie, 24kGoldn, and other artists performed on the programme.

Dolly Parton will have just been inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame’s Class of 2022 and awarded $100 million by Jeff Bezos of Amazon to donate to the causes and organisations of her choice.
