Netflix first approached the show’s creator and co-writer Alex Pina for the show’s renewal on Netflix. Pina recalled that he received a call from Netflix when he was in France.

“I went to my hotel and got a call from Netflix asking what I thought about Part 3, and I was floored, I’d never thought about doing the third part, so I told them I needed time to consider it, and I took a full month,” Pina said.

After thinking for four weeks Pina agreed to Part 3 and Part 4 of ‘Money Heist’ on Netflix. “The big, fundamental difference was the removal of boundaries, When you’re writing for Netflix, you can do almost anything,” Pina added.

Álvaro Morte who essays the role of The Professor said that the cast learned how to deal with increased expectations with their show being available on Netflix.

“When we started with Part 3, we knew we had a hit and that we had to do our absolute best, but it was vital that while working we didn’t allow ourselves to be pressured,” he said.

Morte added, “If we went into Part 3 thinking about the impact it could make, that’s a hard mindset to overcome.”
