November 26, 2008, was a date
when all Indians collectively felt the pain, our brothers and sisters in Mumbai
went through. On this day, a spate of terror attacks rocked India’s financial capital, killing at least 174 and injuring hundreds.

Years after the brutal
attacks, several films attempted to capture the valor of our security forces and the harsh reality of
the fateful day.

Here are a few films that
made us see the gravity of the incident through some stellar lens work.

Shahid (2012)

Movie: Shahid

An attack like 26/11, doesn’t go away in a day, it leaves behind several repercussions.

Based on the life of Shahid Azmi, a lawyer and a Human Rights Activist, Raj Kumar Rao starrer ‘Shahid’ is a similar saga of a young Muslim boy who gets charged and tortured in jail for his identity.

Once released, Shahid, grappling with the pain of religious bias, takes the plunge to study law and fight cases for the people who are booked under the Prevention of Terrorism Act (POTA).

Eventually, he ends up defending Faheem Ansari, an accused of 26/11 attacks.

The Attacks of 26/11 (2013)

Film: The Attacks of 26/11

One of the finest creations around the Mumbai attacks, Ram Gopal Verma’s  ‘The Attacks Of 26/11’ is surely one of the only Bollywood movies that not only took stock of the incident but the ideology behind it from both the attackers’ and victims’ perspectives.

With the entire cast doing brilliant work, Nana Patekar’s acting as Rakesh Maria, along with his monologue on ‘Jihad’ took the cake and made this movie one of its kind.

The film portrays the entire attack from terrorists sailing to Mumbai to create havoc in the city, to showing plight of the victims of the attack, the movie does it all.

The film also stars Atul Kulkarni, Ganesh Yadav, and Sadh Orhan among other.

Taj Mahal (2015)

Ali Khan and Katrina Kaif in the lead roles and one of the few commercial

Hassain Zaidi’s book, ‘Mumbai Avengers’ however, is not directly based on the
Mumbai attacks but revolves around it in a significant manner.

One less God (2017)

Movie: One Less God

While many movies successfully captured the agony of the locals, staff and soldiers deployed at the time of petrifying Taj attacks, ‘One Less God’ is one exceptional piece portrayed from the perspective of international travelers who were victimized at the hands of terrorists and ended up losing their lives.

It amazingly unveiled the sentiments and fear of someone who leaves home for a vacation to never come back, the pain that is unimaginable and is put forward with the brilliant acting of Joseph Mahler Taylor, Sukhraj Deepak, Mihika Rao and Kabir Singh among others.
