The MTV Video Music Awards (VMA) 2022 is set to be aired from Newark, New Jersey’s Prudential Center on August 28, 2022. Traditionally, only one host takes the audience through the length of the entire show, but this time MTV is planning to shake things up. Three will be three anchors for the show this time- LL Cool J, Nicki Minaj, and Jack Harlow. Notably, Minaj will be presented with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award this time and is also set to be among the list of performers.

Interestingly, LL Cool J, Minaj, and Harlow belong to three different generations of hip-hop. While LL is one of the pioneers of the genre, Minaj is among the current faces of hip-hop. Harlow, on the other hand, Harlow, 24, is a rising star.

LL first won a VMA award himself in 1991 for Best Rap Video for the song Mama Said Knock You Out. He was also honoured with the Video Vanguard Award in 1997.

Minaj is a five-time VMA winner and a 17-time nominee. She won the Best Hip-Hop Video Award in 2011 for her song Super Bass and later repeated the feat with other tracks like Anaconda (2015) and Chun-Li (2018). In 2014, Minaj took home a VMA for Best Female Video for her song Starships. Her 2019 track Hot Girl Summer was adjudged the Best Power Anthem.
