Which MCU characters are in this?
Benedict Cumberbatch as Stephen Strange:
Since his debut film, the excellent doctor has grown into his powers. In No Way Home, he made his most recent MCU appearance, casting dangerously advanced magic for Peter Park that backfired and ripped through the fabric of space and time. Though he eventually closed the portal to prevent more adversaries from entering, his adventures in the multiverse are only getting started.
Benedict Wong as Wong:
Strange’s right-hand man-turned-current Sorcerer Supreme made a cameo appearance in ‘Shang-Chi’ and the ‘Legend of the Ten Rings’, first fighting Abomination in an underground fight club and then dealing with Avengers-level business with Captain Marvel and Bruce Banner.
Chiwetel Ejiofor as Mordo:
Karl Mordo had turned on his fellow Masters of the Mystic Arts due to their misuse of abilities and set out to reclaim the magic from sorcerers he judged unworthy when we last saw him at the end of Doctor Strange.
‘Multiverse of Madness’ is called “Master Mordo,” which could mean he’ll be a different version of the Mordo.
Rachel McAdams as Christine Palmer:
Strange’s ex-girlfriend and a competent surgeon, whom he pulled into the supernatural fold in the first film. Christine died in a car accident, and Strange destroyed the entire universe in an attempt to bring her back to life in an episode of ‘What If…?’
Michael Stuhlbarg as Nicodemus West:
West, a colleague neurosurgeon, and Strange’s workplace adversary is the doctor who operated on Strange’s hands. West finally travels to Kamar-Taj in search of magic in the comics. It’s unclear whether Stuhlbarg will reprise his part from the first film or will have a larger role now.

Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff:
Scarlet Witch fled Westview in quest of comfort and knowledge of her abilities. Wanda was last seen sipping tea in a lonely cottage, studying the mysterious Darkhold through an astral projection of the Scarlet Witch.
Which new characters will be introduced?
Xochitl Gomez as America Chavez:
America Chavez is an interdimensional hero with the ability to punch open star-shaped portals that allow her to travel through the multiverse to different realities. She is a relatively new addition to Marvel’s comics. The actress makes her MCU debut in this film.
Benedict Cumberbatch as Defender Strange, Supreme Strange, and Sinister Strange:
Strange will meet a variety of versions of himself across the universe, but these are the three we’ve heard about so far.

Marvel cameos
As we saw in ‘Loki’, ‘What If…?’ and ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’, the multiverse offers limitless opportunities for cameos, whether in the form of familiar faces in new roles or Marvel heroes from other universes crossing over into the MCU.
A few cameos have been suggested in the marketing materials, with the trailer almost confirming Patrick Stewart’s return as Professor X and Lashana Lynch’s appearance as another Captain Marvel. The poster also teases that Hayley Atwell’s Captain Carter, who first appeared in ‘What If…?’ is an animated character, may make her live-action debut.
Behind the scenes on ‘Multiverse of Madness’
When Scott Derrickson, left the sequel due to “creative disagreements,” Marvel turned to Sam Raimi, who helmed Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man trilogy and The Evil Dead. Raimi enlisted Danny Elfman, a longstanding collaborator, and four-time Oscar nominee, to compose the score.
