The Narcotics Control Bureau has formally arrested actor Rhea Chakraborty’s brother Showik Chakraborty, and late actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s former house manager Samuel Miranda, on Friday in connection with his death case, reported news agency ANI. Both of them were arrested after questioning, in relation with the drug trafficking angle linked to Rajput’s death that the anti-narcotics agency is investigating.

The bureau announced their arrest earlier in the evening and said that the formal procedures were underway, according to news agency ANI.

During the day, the agency had conducted simultaneous search operations at Rhea Chakraborty and Samuel Miranda’s houses, following which the latter was detained. He was detained under the provisions of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.

Earlier in the evening, the NCB had arrested alleged drug peddler Kaizan Ibrahim in connection with the same case. It has also arrested two more alleged drug peddler linked to the case.

The agency has been probing the case after a drug angle in relation to the death case of Sushant Singh Rajput, which came up while the Enforcement Directorate was questioning Rhea Chakraborty. The 28-year-old is one of the main accused in the case, which is also being probed by the Central Bureau of Investigation.

Rhea Chakraborty has been accused of abetting Sushant’s suicide, in an FIR which had been filed by his father KK Singh in July.

Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead at his flat in Mumbai’s Bandra on June 14. The Mumbai Police has initially said that the 34-year-old actor died by suicide, however, the case was later transferred to the CBI following a Supreme Court’s order on the plea of Rajput’s family.
