The Narcotics
Control Bureau (NCB) carried out a raid at a cruise ship off the coast of
Mumbai on Saturday and detained at least 10 people, according to news agency ANI.
Children of prominent Bollywood actors are being investigated; NCB officials
told ANI adding that the anti-drugs agency seized banned substances being
consumed at a party on board the ship.

Sameer Wankhede,
zonal director of NCB, Mumbai, said, “We’ve intercepted some persons. The probe
is underway. Drugs have been recovered. We’re investigating 8–10 persons.” Upon
being asked if there was any celebrity present at the party, Wankhede said, “I
can’t comment on it”.

Those detained
will be brought back to Mumbai on Sunday. “So far no arrest has been made by
us,” Wankhede said.

Saturday’s raid
took place on Cordelia Cruises’ Empress ship, inaugurated two weeks ago. NCB
officials had entered the cruise ship undercover, disguised as passengers. Once
the ship had left the coast of Mumbai, a rave party started, according to India
Today. Consequently, NCB officials swung into action and detained a number of
individuals seen consuming illegal drugs openly.

Media reports indicate
that those detained could be booked under various sections of the Narcotic
Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and produced before a court on
Sunday.

The Narcotics Control
Bureau has been working on several high-profile anti-drugs cases since last
year. One of the big cases it has been handling including includes a
chargesheet over an alleged ‘drugs syndicate’ that named 33 people, including
actor Rhea Chakraborty, related to the death of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh
Rajput.
