Hollywood actor Chris Evans has downplayed rumours about him closing in on a new deal with Disney for reprising his role as Steve Rogers, aka Captain America, in future Marvel Cinematic Universe entrants.

The comments section was soon bombarded with fans posting all kinds of hilarious memes and gifs, which got Evans’ attention as well.

Deadline had reported that Evans was set to reprise his role as the genetically enhanced, star-spangled superhero in the MCU, adding that it was unclear whether the deal was done or not.

The report claimed that Evans was set to feature in at least one MCU title, with the possibility of a second appearance also on the cards.

However, Marvel won’t be doing full-fledged Captain America movies, with Evans set to make cameo appearances in other films, along the lines of Robert Downey Jr’s Tony Stark (Iron Man) in films such as Captain America: Civil War and the Spiderman movies.

Evans was very outspoken about moving on from the character after Avengers: Endgame, where Rogers hands his vibranium shield to Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson (Falcon) in a passing on the torch gesture.

Meanwhile, Evans has been confirmed to voice the character of Buzz Lightyear in Pixar’s ‘Toy Story’ franchise. The next movie in the franchise, ‘Buzz Lightyear’ will release on June 17, 2022.
