Although it is unclear if the upcoming movie ‘Nope’ is based on true events or not, Peele revealed at the CinemaCon conference why he chose to give the feature this name. “I love a rapt audience saying, ‘Nope!’…I love to encourage that interaction because that’s what’s giving the audience a unique experience. Roller Coasters aren’t fun alone. Being scared isn’t fun alone. You need that energy.”

He also said that the title speaks to the idea of being in tune with what the audience is thinking and feeling. He added that a lot of people use the word “Nope” while watching a horror movie. The filmmaker added that he plans to thrive on how many times the audience will use the word “Nope” while watching the movie.

‘Nope’ is scheduled to release on July 22, 2022, and features the talent of Daniel Kaluuya, Keke Palmer, and Steven Yeun. Some specific scenes in the trailer  make the movie interesting. There are theories behind the name of the movie. According to Screenrant, ‘Nope’ is an acronym for ‘Not of Planet Earth’.

The trailer of the movie depicted the characters looking at the sky in fear and some weird things taking place in Haywood Ranch. One particular scene in the trailer shows that the movie might also have aliens. Towards the end of the trailer, there is a big spaceship-like device landing on earth.

Foremost, however, Peele says “Nope” is his attempt to direct a spectacle: “The first notion that I latched onto when I was writing this movie was the idea of making a spectacle. I wanted to make a flying saucer movie because I just felt like if we can feel like we’re in the presence of something ‘other,’ if we feel like that’s real, then that’s an immersive experience worthy of going to the movies.”
