Dylan Mulvaney is now embroiled in another boycott controversy after appearing in an advertisement for the skincare company Olay. Mulvaney has been under constant scrutiny from anti-trans campaigners since she uploaded a sponsored video for Bud Light that inadvertently sparked a boycott.

The influencer is continuing to face outrage over her brand collaborations, including for a recent advertisement with the skin brand Okay. However, the exact reason for the anger being directed at her is unclear.

Due to her transgender identity, actor turned social media star Dylan Mulvaney has become a key figure in the ongoing culture war surrounding trans rights online.

She has gained a huge following on TikTok over the last year. Mulvaney has documented her journey as someone who is transitioning and now works with various brands to promote their products.

Mulvaney often shares beauty tips, so doing sponsored content for a company like Olay isn’t unusual.

Although Mulvaney’s video was released in early March, her critics have gone back to her archive to find more sponsored videos since the Bud Light incident.

According to some users, the influencer should not promote products that are marketed toward women because she is trans. Here’s how users reacted to the Olay ad on Twitter:

“Now the freak has taken on Olay. I don’t use it and would stop if I did. This has gone too far. Soon we will have to boycott EVERYTHING!” a user wrote on Twitter.

Nike, Bud Light, Tampax, Kate Spade, Oil of Olay, & Jack Daniels believe they made smart woke decisions to have an airhead trans person representing their products. Let’s let them know that insulting and demeaning biological women is a poor marketing strategy,” another user said.

British influencer Oli London, one of Mulvaney’s biggest critics, claimed that she “parodies women”. He has also posted about the advertisement in one of his tweets. Oli London had surgery to look like a K-pop star.

Many people are posting updated lists of brands that they will be boycotting for working with Mulvaney.
