Over three years after the conclusion of its second season, One- Punch Man Season 3 has officially begun production, with a teaser image released by Chikashi Kubota, character designer for the first two seasons of the anime series.

The new teaser image released alongside the announcement shows series protagonist Saitama and Garou, a major villain introduced in Season 2, standing back-to-back with little information about the upcoming season visible in the image.

The following is a statement announcing the production of the third season: “This time, we will start the production of the long-awaited sequel of the animation “One-Punch Man” 3rd season. At the same time, a new teaser visual drawn by Osamu Kubota, who was in charge of character design for the first and second seasons, has also been released. The latest information will be announced on the official TV anime website and official SNS as needed, so please wait for further details.”

Even though Kubota will be back for the new season, it is presently unknown if any other cast members will also be back for the project or if the animation studio that created the series’ animation will change, as it did between the first and second seasons. The third season’s episode count is similarly uncertain, however assuming it follows the pattern set by its predecessors, it will probably contain 12 episodes. Future information will first appear on the One Punch Man website.

One-Punch Man, created by Japanese artist ONE, tells the story of Saitama, a powerful superhero who can defeat any opponent with a single punch. Saitama, bored with his flawless battle record, sets out on a quest to find an opponent who can actually challenge him. The series began as a webcomic in 2009 before moving to the magazine Shueisha’s Young Jump Next in 2012.

The manga has already been adapted into a popular anime series and several video games, including the most recent One-Punch Man: A Hero Nobody Knows. The popular anime series’ second season debuted in 2019, laying the groundwork for another round of exciting fights, terrifying villains, and more Genos and Saitama adventures.

The manga series has sold more than 30 million copies worldwide, making it one of the world’s most popular and fastest-selling series. Sony has also announced a live-action adaptation film for the series, which will be directed by Fast & Furious director Justin Lin and written by Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinkner, with MCU producer Avi Arad also attached to the superhero project.
