Actors Lauren Graham and Peter Krause have split up, People reported. ‘Gilmore Girls’ alum Graham’s representative broke the news saying the two had “quietly ended their relationship last year”.

Meeting and the start of a romance

Graham, 55, and Krause, 56, had first met in 1995, but their relationship turned romantic two decades later when they co-starred as siblings Adam and Sarah Braverman from 2010 to 2015 on ‘Parenthood’.

A private but supportive relationship

The two did not go on too many red carpets together, choosing to keep their relationship private. However, they were supportive and outspoken about each other during interviews and talk show appearances.

Graham, in a 2010 Redbook interview spoke about her relationship with Krause, saying, “Nobody knew about it for a while because we like to be at home, cooking and not going out”, and added, “I’ve also been really protective of it because it’s important that you can buy us as brother and sister on the show.”

The couple’s first red carpet appearance together was in November 2010, soon after they’d gone public with their relationship. The two were attending the Saban Free Clinic’s 34th annual dinner gala at The Beverly Hilton hotel.

A hint of uncertainty

While the two seemed to be doing great, Graham expressed uncertainty about her future with Krause, in an interview with Ellen DeGeneres

“I never know how to answer this question”, the actor said in 2014, adding, “I don’t know. We’re really happy. I feel like close to five years in Hollywood is like, ‘Aren’t we married already really?'” She concluded at the time, “It’s good the way it is.”

Workplace support

Graham and Krause continued, with the latter having a cameo in ‘Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life’, the revival of the original. In 2020, they appeared on the red carpet for the Golden Globes as well.

Domestic life disrupted by COVID

Graham, in a 2020 New York Times interview, gave a glimpse into her home life, saying “I love crossword puzzles and word and spelling games of any kind, but so does Peter, so we have an agreement: I get the crossword in the Sunday New York Times, but he gets the one in The Week. He gets the Spelling Bee in The Times and I get the Sudoku in The Week”.

Describing a typical Sunday, the actor said, “We listen to music or ‘This American Life’ and pass the papers back and forth and get away from the phones for a few hours.”

However, COVID strained their relationship, and in 2021, Graham revealed on Ellen’s show that her relationship with Krause became harder after spending five months apart, during which time he was with his son.

“I think the reentry was more difficult”, she explained about returning from her work in Vancouver, saying, “It was more like they were the married couple, and I was the person who … they were like, ‘We don’t do it that way anymore.’ They were like, ‘No, no, no, this is how things happen.’”

They eventually pulled the plug on their relationship after a decade of being together.
