Pratap K Pothen popularly known as Pratap Pothen was an Indian film actor, screenwriter, film and advertising director who is known for his work in Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu and Bollywood cinema. He also acted in a silent film Pushpaka Vimana in 1988.

Pratap’s personal life was not very successful as he was married twice and both the marriages ended in divorce.

His first marriage was with leading Tamil actress Raadhika with whom he was married just for a year. His second marriage was with Amala Satyanath in 1990 but the duo separated in 2012.

Pratap was born to a homemaker mother Ponnamma Pothen and a businessman father Kulathunkal Pothen. He had an elder brother named Hari Pothan who is a film producer.

He was married to actress Raadhika in 1985 and get a divorce in 1986. He was remarried to Amala Satyanath Pothen in 1990 and again divorced in 2012. With Amala, he has a daughter named Keya Pothen.

The veteran actor was found dead in his apartment on Friday in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. It is reported that the 70-year-old actor died in his apartment in Kilpauk in Chennai. He has acted in over a hundred films in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and Hindi.

He began his acting career in Malayalam cinema with the legendary director Bharathan, through movies like Aavaram, Thakara and Lorry.
