Quentin Tarantino broke the news of Rick Dalton’s passing in a recent episode of The Video Archives podcast, which he co-hosts with Roger Avary, his co-writer on Pulp Fiction. Dalton is a fictional character played by Leonardo DiCaprio in Tarantino’s directorial “Once Upon A Time In Hollywood”.
Fans were informed via a series of tweets that the upcoming podcast episode on Tuesday would serve as a special memorial episode dedicated to Rick Dalton, showcasing some of the character’s most iconic roles. “We are devastated to learn of the passing of actor Rick Dalton, who was best known for his roles in the critically acclaimed television series Bounty Law and The Fireman trilogy. A follow-up tweet said, “Because of his passing, the episode for Rollerball has been postponed. Instead, we will come back on Tuesday with a memorial episode designed by Quentin that features some of Rick’s best roles.”

The news drew some hilarious reactions from fans of Tarantino, who joined in to pretend to mourn the death of the fictional acting legend. One Twitter user wrote “Had the pleasure of meeting Rick Dalton at a charity do once. He was surprisingly down to earth, and VERY funny”. While another wrote, “RIP Rick Dalton. @QuentTarantino Thank you for your ongoing diligence to document one our best actors. The Fireman is one of the greatest cop trilogies.”
