American rapper Dr. Dre’s oldest daughter has said that she is homeless and living out of her car as she has not received a single dime from her father despite repeated pleas for help. LaTanya Young said in an interview that she is currently working as a delivery driver for DoorDash and Uber Eats.
“My kids are staying with friends — they are not living in the car, it’s just me. I’m taking odd jobs just to make it now — I got paid $15 an hour as an assembler at the warehouse. I’m trying to keep my head above water. I’ve been in debt for a while," Young, who is a single mother of four, told Daily Mail.
Young is the music mogul's daughter with Lisa Johnson, from whom he split when Young was a 5-year-old child.
The 38-year-old said that she she hasn’t seen her father in 18 years and can only communicate with him via his team. She went on to say that she fears losing her rental car as she hasn't been able to make payment after moving to California from Las Vegas in search of better work.
“The car is a pretty penny. It’s an SUV that costs $2,300 for three weeks and I only paid for one week. Sooner or later they are going to take the car," she said.
She said her father stopped paying in January 2020.
“His lawyer has said that my dad doesn’t want to help me because I’ve spoken about him in the press. I feel like I’m damned if I do, I’m damned if I don’t. I’m just trying to communicate with him and see if he wants to talk to his grandkids," she said.
Meanwhile, Dr Dre was admitted to the ICU at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles in January after suffering a brain aneurysm. In an interview in June, he said he is taking care of himself.
