Actor Alec Baldwin has reached a settlement with the family of Halyna Hutchins, who was killed on the sets of the movie Rust in 2021. A wrongful death lawsuit had been filed against Baldwin. The details of the settlement were not revealed by Baldwin’s attorney.
A statement released by the attorney says that Matthew Hutchins, the partner of Halyna, will be listed as an executive producer in the movie. Matthew Hutchins will also receive a share of the profits, according to reports from CNN.

The statement also clarified that the case will now be dismissed. The shooting for Rust will resume in January next year.
“All of us believe Halyna’s death was a terrible accident. I am grateful that the producers and the entertainment community have come together to pay tribute to Halyna’s final work”, Hutchins said.
Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, the film’s armorer, was also named in the lawsuit. It is unclear if all allegations against her were also dismissed. Hutchins’ family had previously alleged numerous industry-standard violations.
Baldwin was pointing a gun at cinematographer Halyna Hutchins when it went off on October 21, killing her and wounding the director, Joel Souza. They had been inside a small church during setup for filming a scene.
Baldwin has said the gun went off accidentally and that he did not pull the trigger. But a recent FBI forensic report found the weapon could not have been fired unless someone pulled the trigger.

Under questioning by two investigators, Baldwin says that as the gun went off, he was unaware initially that Hutchins would die and shocked to learn that he had been holding a gun loaded with live ammunition.
Baldwin said in a December interview with ABC News that he was on set pointing the gun at Hutchins at her instruction when it went off without his pulling the trigger.
