The 28th Screen Actors’ Guild (SAG) Awards to honour the top talent in film and television will be held at 8pm ET on Sunday (1am GMT, Monday).

Unlike last year’s event, which was taped and released online due to the raging COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s event will be a live, in-person awards ceremony that will take place at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California. The event will also be aired live on television on some channels, and will also be available as a live-stream on the internet.

Where to watch?

In the US, TNT and TBS will broadcast the ceremony live, and it will also be available for live streaming on HBO Max. Other live TV services such as Sling TV, Hulu With Live TV, YouTube TV and DirecTV Stream will also stream the SAG awards ceremony.

In countries outside the US, however, many of these channels or services are not available. However, the ceremony can still be livestreamed by using a virtual private network (VPN). There are several paid and free VPNs available on the internet, and these can be used to set your virtual location to the US to use US-based livestreaming services.

What to watch out for:

The ceremony will begin with a performance by Lin-Manuel Miranda, Leslie Odom Jr, and Daveed Diggs, before moving on to the awards distribution.

As for the awards themselves, eyes will be on Korea’s ‘Squid Game’, which earlier became the first non-English and Korean show to get a nomination at the SAG awards. ‘Squid Game’ bagged four nominations – Outstanding Performance by a Stunt Ensemble, Outstanding Performance by Male Actor, Outstanding Performance by Female Actor, and Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series – and could also become the first Korean show to win a SAG award.

Of course, in addition to ‘Squid Game’, of the best films and television series from last year are among the nominees, and the ceremony promises to be an exciting one.
