The fans of Sam Smith spoke out on Twitter in defense of the singer after they were body shamed on the platform. The flurry of negative comments went viral against the singer, after they stripped down to a skimpy bikini, leaving little to the imagination while soaking up the sun on a lavish yacht trip.

The 30-year-old singer took to Instagram to post a number of photos from the getaway. In all of the photos, they looked almost naked, wearing just a tiny animal print bikini bottom as they joked about how one must “always wear sun cream”.

In one of the pictures, they showed off their backside while standing on the boat with their back to the camera. The Unholy hitmaker was seen throwing their arms in the air while cheekily sticking out their tongue in another snap.

However, their loyal and devoted fans stood up for them as they shut down the trolls by praising their confidence to post the photos. “I’m not even going to get into the irony of who this post is coming from. All I see is Sam Smith looking rich, successful and living their best life. You be looking unemployed, miserable and bitter,” one of them said.

Another wrote, “More people in our community look like Sam Smith than the unnatural steroid bodies y’all obsess over. Sam Smith won’t see your memes body shaming him but queer people without Sam Smith’s confidence and resources to protect themselves will! Grow the f**k up!”

A third noted, “Reminder that Sam Smith was fat before they were skinny too. This isn’t them letting themselves go. This is them accepting themselves and being happy with their body. Something you clearly lack the ability to do.”

One more remarked, “One of the worst things about gay culture is the propensity for body shaming, imo. Algorithms on IG & elsewhere direct body fascism right at us. Sam Smith is a beautiful person in any body type. We can do so much better at being loving toward one another.”
