The teaser gives a glimpse of the upcoming events in the universe, taking a lead from Scream 5. The sixth installment will follow the adventures of the four survivors- Jenna Ortega‘s Tara, Melissa Barrera’s Sam, Jasmin Savoy Brown’s Mindy, and Mason Gooding’s Chad, who have relocated from Woodsboro to New York to attend college, as they try to steer away from the terror inflicted by Ghostface, a fictional identity adopted by the antagonists of the films to carry out gruesome murders.

“You know, it’s nice because there’s still a protectiveness in the script and that’s something that the actors had naturally over her because obviously we respect her and we want the best for her. She’s missed and thought of,” said Ortega, on the departure of Campbell from the franchise.
Kevin Williamson will return as the executive producer for this installment, having produced all except the first part of the franchise.
