The IIFA 2022 ceremony on Saturday in Abu Dhabi was a glamorous event that slightly lost its bling due to the absence of Bollywood biggies such as Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif. According to reports, the ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’ co-stars have tested positive for the coronavirus, just days after attending filmmaker Karan Johar’s star-studded birthday bash.

Confirming reports of Khan’s COVID-19 diagnosis, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee wrote on Twitter: “Just came to know that our Brand Ambassador Shahrukh Khan has been detected covid positive. Pray fastest recovery for the superstar. Get well Shahrukh! Spring back asap!”

On the other hand, Kaif’s husband Vicky Kaushal, who was felicitated with the Best Actor Male award at IIFA for his performance in ‘Sardar Udham’, was questioned why his wife did not attend the event with him.

“Even I am missing us together as well,” he responded, according to a report by News18.

This isn’t the first time that the ‘Sooryavanshi’ star has contracted the virus. Back in April 2021, Kaif announced that she had tested positive by sharing a note on Instagram, urging her followers to take necessary precautions to avoid contagion.

Just days ago, both Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif, along with their respective partners, attended Karan Johar’s 50th birthday party in the Yash Raj Films studio located in Mumbai, Maharashtra.

A video of Khan dancing on a track from his 1998 film ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ had gone viral on social media.

Apart from Kaif and Khan, actor Kartik Aaryan also tested positive for COVID-19 earlier this week.

“Sab kuch itna positive chal raha tha, Covid se raha nahi gaya (Everything was going so positively, Covid couldn’t bear to be left out),” the ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’ star wrote on Twitter.
