Sonali Phogat was an actress and politician who died on Monday in Goa due to a heart attack. The police received information about Sonali Phogat’s death from ST Anthony Hospital in North Goa, according to the Goa Director General of Police. 

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar expressed his grief in a Twitter post, “Deeply saddened to learn about the death of Sonali Phogat.”

Sonali Phogat was born in a Hindu family in the small town of Bhuthan, Haryana. The 42-year-old Phogat was raised along with her four siblings in a family of farmers. Her husband too died at the relatively young age of 42 in 2016. Sonali Phogat was involved in several controversies soon after the death of her husband. 

Apart from being a Bhartiya Janata Party leader, she also participated as a wild card contestant in Bigg Boss 14 and gained immense popularity. Phogat made her acting debut in the TV serial Ek Maa Jo Laakhon Ke Liye Bani Amma in 2016. Later she did many roles in serials, web series, and movies and has been a part of various Punjabi and Haryanvi music videos. She was also a part of the web series titled The Story of Badmashgarh in 2019. The Story of Badmashgarh brought her a lot of popularity and catapulted her career.

Her political career began in 2008 at the age of 28. She served as the National Vice President of BJP’s Mahila Morcha and had also contested the assembly elections from Adampur on a BJP ticket in the 2019 Haryana state elections. 

According to the reports published in Bollywood Glamsham, Sonali Phogat’s net income is Rs 46 crore. She used to charge Rs 80 thousand per week for the Big Boss 14 show and reports indicate that she charged 20-25 lakhs for a movie.
