Bambi will be turned into a horror film, according to filmmaker Rhys Frake-Waterfield of the contentious upcoming film Winnie The Pooh: Blood and Honey.

The film will be a barbarous adaptation of the adored Austrian novel and film. Social media has since been used by internet users to vent their frustration with reproduction.

Since 2016, the Bambi movie from 1923 has been in the public domain. This enables moviemakers to tell their own stories about the beloved deer.

The title of Rhy’s interpretation, Bambi: The Reckoning will also involve producer Scott Jeffrey. He revealed that the deer will be introduced as a “vicious killing machine” through Dread Central. In the interview, he stated:

The original film revolves around a deer named Bambi. When Bambi was a little child, his mother died, and he later made friends with other animals in the forest. He then encounters dangerous human hunters and makes a friend. The initial artwork was centered on him figuring out who he was and where he fit in the world. However, it appears that Rhy’s interpretation will be a bloody take on the deer’s adventures in the forest.

Internet users were outraged to learn that their favourite film had been turned into a jarring horror film. Many people expressed their desire for classic Disney films to be preserved. It comes as no surprise that Rhys will be creating a horror version of the classic Disney film, as a similar remake of Winnie The Pooh is set to hit theatres in February 2023. 

Additionally, Rhys has said that he would be writing a dark adaptation of Peter Pan dubbed Peter Pan: Neverland Nightmare. It appears that the director plans to develop ominous remakes of beloved Disney films.
