With the second volume of ‘Stranger Things 4’ landing on Netflix today, viewers are ready for hours of binge-watching. They are also prepared for what lies ahead, the fifth and the final season, as promised by creators Matt and Ross Duffer.

In a statement released along with the announcement of ‘Stranger Things 4′, the Duffer brothers said: “Seven years ago, we planned out the complete story arc for Stranger Things. At the time, we predicted the story would last four to five seasons. It proved too large to tell in four, but — as you’ll soon see for yourselves — we are now hurtling towards our finale. Season 4 will be the penultimate season; season 5 will be the last.”

With the fifth season confirmed, let us take a look at some key details.

1. Release date

The final season, which hasn’t reached its production stage yet, is expected to release sometime around 2023, according to Cosmopolitan.

2. Cast

If Season 4‘s plotline doesn’t kill any lead characters, actors Millie Bobby Brown, Noah Schnapp, Finn Wolfhard and Natalia Dyer will be returning for the last hurrah.

Winona Ryder will also be returning as Joyce Byers, according to Finn Wolfhard, who, during an interview with MTV, showed a text that Ryder sent him in which she talked about “her energy for season 5”.

3. Plot

While the plot is still under the wraps, the Duffer brothers hinted that it will have a time jump from season four.

“I’m sure we will do a time jump. Ideally, we’d have shot [seasons 4 and 5] back to back, but there was just no feasible way to do that. So these are all discussions we’re going to have with our writers when we start the room up,” Matt Duffer told TVLine.
