Calling
a halt to media reports claiming an arrest by Mumbai police at Dragon Fly club, celebrity Sussanne Khan issued a clarification message on her
Instagram handle saying she was not booked and the issue was merely a routine check by authorities
with pub’s management.

In a detailed post, Sussanne articulated that no arrest has been made and all the guests present in the club were directed to wait for three hours while Club’s management was ‘sorting things out’ with the concerned authorities.

“A humble Clarification: Last night I was at a close friend’s birthday dinner & a few of us extended to the Dragon Fly club at JW Marriot, Sahar. At 2.30 am the authorities entered the club.Whilst the club management and the authorities were sorting things out, all the guests present were asked to wait for a period of three hours. We were finally allowed to leave at 6 am. Therefore, the speculation by parts of the media that there were arrests made are completely incorrect and also irresponsible.” she wrote

The remarks came after several media reports confirmed arrest of 34 people, including cricketer Suresh Raina and Bollywood celebrity Sussanne Khan, after a raid at Dragonfly pub for keeping the establishment open beyond the permissible time limit and not following COVID-19 norms.

While Sussanne publicly refuted the claims, Mumbai police on the other hand confirmed that the arrests were made under sections 188 (Disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant), 269 (whoever unlawfully or negligently does any act which is, and which he knows or has reason to believe to be, likely to spread the infection of any disease dangerous to life), and 34 (Acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of IPC, reported PTI.

Other celebrity linked in the case was cricketer Suresh Raina, who in a statement accepted that he was at the party but was unaware of the local timings and protocols.

“Suresh was in Mumbai for a shoot which extended to late hours and was invited by a friend for a quick dinner post the same prior to him taking his flight back to Delhi. He was not aware of the local timings and protocols,” a statement on behalf of Raina said.
