As Hollywood singer and songwriter Taylor Swift turns 32 today, we take a look at what she’s best known for besides her music: her controversies.

1.     Taylor Swift and Jake Gyllenhaal: Taylor’s soulful and brutally honest songs often create headlines, all thanks to the astounding secrets she craftily spills through them. She recently re-recorded her album named Red, first penned in 2012. The album is inspired by her 3-month long relationship with Gyllenhaal, which ended in heartbreak. She called it her only “true breakup album”.  Her songs ‘All Too Well’ and ‘I Bet You Think About Me’ are deeply inspired from the events that transpired during their brief dating period. The songs involve major subtle anecdotes of how heartbroken she was when Gyllenhaal didn’t show up at her 21st birthday party, but also still has her scarf all these years later as a souvenir. She also called him out on always dating women who are much younger than him. It seems like Swift is known to dig up the past and Gyllenhaal isn’t an exception. Gyllenhaal, though, has managed to keep a stoic attitude to the romantic drama, and hasn’t cared to stir the pot yet.

 2.   Taylor Swift and Kanye West: A jaw dropping international television moment occurred at the 2009 VMAs when West interrupted Swift on stage while receiving her Best Female video award, saying Beyoncé deserves it and not her. This heated duo’s feud continued for almost a decade after that, with 8 years of back-to-back shady songs, comebacks, and call recording exposés.

3.  Taylor Swift and Katy Perry: This duo’s friendship got sour the moment Swift’s backup dancers decided to join Perry’s tour instead. Perry also briefly dated Swift’s ex-beau and singer John Mayer, which probably deepened their already heated conflict. Although they seem to now have made amends, the former frenemies had quite a sour patch of vengeance between them in the previous years.

 4.  Taylor Swift and her tailored list of lovers: Swift has an extensive dating history with Hollywood biggies like Joe Jonas, Calvin Harris, John Mayer, Harry Styles, Tom Hiddleston, Taylor Lautner and more. She has kept up her “reputation” in all these years, throwing truth bombs about her beaus through her popular songs like Dear John, I Knew You Were Trouble, Back to December, and more.

Regardless of the drama, Taylor Swift continues to rule hearts and music charts with her tell-all music.
