In a recent Instagram post, author and filmmaker Tahira Kashyap shared her experience with Bottle gourd toxicity.  She was admitted to the ICU (Intensive Care Unit) after she suffered from the same. In an Instagram reel, she opened up about how her health worsened after she drank bottle gourd juice despite its bitter taste and ended up with “17 bouts of vomit.” Her “blood pressure dropped to 40,” after which she was immediately taken to a hospital and treated for two days in the ICU. Tahira Kashyap said she is feeling better now, but she would like to spread awareness about bottle gourd toxicity. 

Her caption read, “PLS LISTEN TO THIS! Instagram is an amazing platform for spreading awareness! Pls read about BOTTLE GOURD TOXICITY! I might be sounding all sorted and cool in this video that I made from my set, but I was in deep sh#%! Sharing deets as doctors also asked me to spread the awareness around too. I have picked my phone on all those who I know have the #greenjuice Bottle gourd toxicity has dire consequences, and dire is an understatement. Please read in between the lines. It’s lethal. In the name of health just don’t keep popping juices! There was a reason why I was in the ICU for the same, don’t want to divulge more gory details, but pls spread the word around.”

Tahira Kashyap revealed that regularly had a concoction of turmeric, bottle gourd and amla. However, after her recent experience, she urged her followers to avoid consuming the juice if it tastes bitter.  

The author-filmmaker returned to the sets of her upcoming film Sharmajee Ki Beti after she was discharged from the hospital. Tahira Kashyap only recently directed one of the segments of Feels Like Ishq on Netflix, a series comprising six short fiction films.
