The second season of the popular fashion competition show, Next in Fashion, has premiered on Netflix, much to the excitement of fashion enthusiasts worldwide.
Hosted by renowned designer Tan France and model Gigi Hadid, the show features twelve up-and-coming fashion designers from all over the United States competing for a grand prize of $250,000 and the opportunity to launch their own collection on luxury fashion platform Net-a-Porter.

Each episode of the show presents the contestants with thematic challenges that they have to complete to the best of their abilities. Fans of the show have been fervently binge-watching the ten episodes, which premiered on March 3, to find out which designer will come out on top.

Career
After completing his degree, he worked for several clothing retailers, including Zara and Bershka, to gain a better understanding of the retail wholesale business. He then went on to work for various brands to learn more about the manufacturing side of the industry, including menswear and womenswear, which he majored in at Doncaster College.
France has a passion for creating fashionable yet modest clothing, which led him to found his fashion company Kingdom & State in 2011. He later founded two smaller brands, and his designs were sold at popular retailers such as Forever 21 and ModCloth. In 2016, he co-founded Rachel Parcell Inc and served as the clothing line’s CEO. He sold his businesses and planned to retire to start a family, but then Netflix contacted him, which led him to a different direction in life.

In 2018, France became a household name as a co-host of the hit show Queer Eye, alongside design expert Bobby Berk, culture and lifestyle expert Karamo Brown, grooming expert Jonathan Van Ness, and food and wine expert Antoni Porowski. The show has won multiple Emmy Awards for Outstanding Structured Reality Program since its inception in 2018.

France’s talents extend beyond just television. He has designed a line of eyewear in partnership with EyeBuyDirect, hosted the web series Dressing Funny, lent his voice to an episode of Big Mouth, and became a columnist for GQ Middle East. In 2020, he co-hosted the fashion competition show Next in Fashion on Netflix with model and fashion designer Alexa Chung.
Family
France grew up in a Muslim household with Pakistani parents and three siblings. However, his father passed away when he was just 13 years old. During his youth, France felt isolated due to racism, being raised in a home that viewed homosexuality negatively, and never seeing LGBTQ Asian characters on television. In a recent interview, France expressed his wish to have seen a version of himself on TV. He said to The Evening Standard in 2019, “It felt like our stories weren’t needed.” However, his interest in fashion grew at an early age, and he worked in his grandparents’ denim factory, which made Disney clothing.
