Fox sitcom ‘That ’70s Show’ is coming with a spin off that will be titled ‘That ’90s Show’, the Variety reported. The series, as per the report, will start from the year 1995 when Leia Forman, Eric and Donna’s (Laura Prepon) daughter would be shown visiting her grandparents for summer, and she shall make new friends at the Point Place which used to be her parents’ hangout spot. The original series creators Bonnie and Terry Turner are back on board and the spinoff will see a Netflix release. 

Kurtwood Smith (Red Forman) and Debra Jo Rupp (Kitty Forman) have so far signed on to reprise their roles, Variety reports, adding that the producers are hopeful that other familiar names will join in guest appearances.

The official synopsis of the new show, according to ET Canada says that Leia would also be “under the watchful eye of Kitty and the stern glare of Red.”

“Hello, Wisconsin! It’s 1995 and Leia Forman, daughter of Eric and Donna, is visiting her grandparents for the summer where she bonds with a new generation of Point Place kids under the watchful eye of Kitty and the stern glare of Red. Sex, drugs and rock ’n roll never dies, it just changes clothes,” the Hollywood Reporter stated the official description of the show.

That ’70s Show debuted in 1998 and ran for eight seasons on Fox. It revolved around a group of teenage friends growing up in a fictional Wisconsin town. 

The original show’s cast included Topher Grace, Mila Kunis, Ashton Kutcher, Laura Prepon and Wilmer Valderrama. 

Netflix, as per Variety, has ordered 10 episodes of the spin-off. Executive producers include Bonnie and Terry Turner, Lindsey Turner, Marcy Carsey and Tom Werner. Rupp is repped by Artists & Representatives and Wright Entertainment.
