The superpowered humans of Amazon’s The Boys are dangerous in their own right, but it is Vought — the enormously powerful and corrupt megacorporation that secretly developed them — that poses the greatest threat to the globe.

This has been clear since the first episode, and while it has occasionally felt like the organisation is about to face its comeuppance, a new trailer for The Boys‘ upcoming third season makes it clear that Vought is far from giving up.

The second season of The Boys described how, in addition to secretly subjecting infants to chemicals that eventually gave rise to the world’s population of superpeople, Vought knowingly recruited a crazy Nazi to join the Seven, their main superhero team.

If the truth about Vought ever became widely known, one may expect the corporation to implode almost immediately. However, in the season 3 teaser, Vought holds up rather well when Homelander (Antony Starr) attempts some damage control while advertising Vought’s impending Seven film.

Homelander appears on a variety of news networks both to promote the film and to distance himself from his antisemitic former teammate, in what looks to be The Boys’ direct nod to the Sinclair Broadcast Group making local news broadcasters repeat scripts.

Nothing in Homelander’s statements resonates especially true because he says the same thing to every reporter he meets with, and he’s always been prone to deceit. However, Homelander’s clear mental breakdown suggests that The Boys’ greater investigation of Vought’s self-destruction is not yet complete.

The third season of The Boys will be available on Amazon Prime on June 3rd.
