MCU%u2019S Wanda Vision was released earlier this year and radically subverted its audience%u2019s expectations towards the show. The MCU-related story also paid homage to many beloved sitcoms from every era of television.

However, the show’s biggest influence in its early 4:3 Black and White episodes %u2013 was The Dick Van Dyke Show (1961). Van Dyke has personally worked as a consultant on the series. In the style of an old black-and-white sitcom, WandaVision chronicled Wanda and Vision%u2019s comical misadventures in the tranquil suburban neighborhood of Westview.

The Dick Van Dyke Show is presumably one of the greatest sitcoms ever made and still holds up in the streaming age. However it takes a certain amount of time to know the Petries, but once you get used to the format there is no going back. The show is created by comedy legend Carl Reiner. The conflicts shown in the series are more %u201Cus versus the whole world%u201D rather than %u201Cus versus each other.%u201D It also has a progressive view of gender roles that most of the sitcoms aired today.

In episode 2 of Wanda Vision titled %u201CIt May Look Like a Walnut%u201D the episode that Wanda and her family watch in Sokovia flashbacks, is considered to be is one of the greatest TV episodes ever to hit the airwaves. The episode is praised as The Dick Van Dyke Show%u2019s best installments. The series has no shortage of epic episodes with classic episodes in every season of the show. 

The show never compromised on the quality of content they were giving out to the audience throughout its entire half-decade-long run. However, this show is perfect for binge-watching even though it was created at a time when binge-watching was not even a thing.
