Netflix has released its first look of Queen Elizabeth in season 5 of  ‘The Crown’, where Imelda Staunton will play the role of the Queen. The Crown’s official account on Twitter has shared an “early glimpse” of Imelda Staunton’s depiction as her Royal Highness. Imelda Staunton’s reign as Queen has commenced.

Staunton sports a printed yellow blouse, string of pearls, and a look of disdain pointed towards an unseen person in the image. The production of the fifth series began last month, which will follow the political and personal nuances of Queen Elizabeth II’s reign across the 20th century.

The royal drama will return next year and viewers will once again see the new monarch rule and Queen in action. Staunton replaces Olivia Colman as the Queen for the fifth season, following her two-season stint in the role. The younger version of Elizabeth was played by Claire Foy for the first two seasons, then Colman took over. The Crown’s fifth season would be its last and Staunton will play the role for seasons 5 and 6.
