‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’, a TV show which has been aired since September 2003, will come to an end in 2022  after 19 seasons. “As great as this show is, and as fun as it is, it’s just not a challenge anymore,” told the TV show host Ellen DeGeneres to Hollywood Reporter. The announcement came months after the show was accused of having a toxic environment.

The accusations on the show and DeGeneres herself led to three senior producers losing their and DeGeneres beginning the latest season with a note of apology. The show is meant for its mix of humour, interviews and human-interest stories, and also for engaging celebrities in various activities that let the viewers see their lesser-known sides.

The rates of the TV show have declined in recent times. “I was going to stop after season 16,” said DeGeneres. “That was going to be my last season and they wanted to sign for four more years and I said I’d sign for maybe for one. They were saying there was no way to sign for one. ‘We can’t do that with the affiliates and the stations need more of a commitment’,“ she added.

“So, we [settled] on three more years and I knew that would be my last. That was the plan all along,” said DeGeneres. “It’s going to be really hard on the last day, but I also know it’s time. I’m a creative person, and when you’re a creative person you constantly need to be challenged,” reported BBC.
