The Fabelmans is an upcoming American biopic on Steven Spielberg. Set for release in November 2022., The Fabelmans is directed, co-written and partially produced by Spielberg himself. The film revolves around the life of the young Sammy Fabelman (based on the director) growing up in post World War II Arizona, discovering the power of cinema. Gabriel LaBelle plays the role of Sammy Fabelmans. The other members of the cast include Seth
Rogen, Paul Dano, Michelle Williams and Judd Hirsch. The music of the film is
by John Williams.

The Fabelmans premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival
on September 10, 2022. The film is going to be distributed by Universal
Pictures and the production company of the film is Amblin Entertainment.

In 1999, Spielberg had given a thought on narrating his childhood
through a film and the plot of the film was finally outlined in 2019. The
filming of the film started in October 2020, during the lockdown which was
announced due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Filming Locations

The Fabelmans was filmed in California and Arizona, USA and also
at Universal Studios in Universal City. 

The street scenes of the film were filmed in Whittier,
California, USA. The other filming locations of the film include Malibu Beach
(California) and Arizona. 

The cinematography of the film started during the Covid-19
lockdown period in Los Angeles in 2021. The cast of the film got a chance to
explore the recollections of Spielberg’s family’s past in order to learn about
them and internalize the characters so that they could portray their fictional
counterparts well. They also got access to Spielberg’s home movies and
photographs.

Paul Dano, while the cast was getting to explore the niches of
Spielberg’s life, said that he felt overwhelmed as Stielberg is a respectable
man who has new experiences every day. Spielberg, especially in the scenes of
Sammy tried to bring out the utmost resemblance with his childhood. He, later,
recounted that he misses the days of filming of The Fabelmans.
