Singer Krishnakumar Kunnath, popularly known as KK, died on Tuesday. He was 53. The ‘Zara Sa’ artiste was performing at a concert at the Kolkata’s Nazrul Mancha when he complained of chest pain and illness. He was then rushed to a private hospital, where the doctors declared him dead.

Videos of his last concert were extensively shared on social media. In a video shared on Instagram by Viral Bhayani, his last recorded performance is seen where the singer is, quite ironically, singing the song, ‘Hum rahe ya na rahe kal.’

Some clips also show him sweating profusely on stage, wiping his face with a towel and also complaining about the air conditioning at the venue. The Kolkata Police have registered a case of unnatural death. However, the autopsy report will be out only on Wednesday.

In KK’s few last moments, he was delivering some of his hits to the hundreds gathered at the venue – Kolkata’s Nazrul Mancha auditorium.

Celebrities from several industries, including music, Bollywood, politics and sports, mourned KK’s death. 

“Saddened by the untimely demise of noted singer Krishnakumar Kunnath popularly known as KK. His songs reflected a wide range of emotions as struck a chord with people of all age groups. We will always remember him through his songs. Condolences to his family and fans. Om Shanti,” Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted.

Fellow singer Mohit Chauhan shared a picture of the last time he was with KK.
