The Last of Us which is HBO%u2019s hotly-anticipated TV series just cast a key character. Mindhunter star, Anna Torv, is all set to portray Tess. The character is a friend and an accomplice of protagonist Joel. Torv is popularly known for her role in J.J. Abrams’ sci-fi series Fringe. Apart from that, she has also played Wendy Carr in Mindhunter. The two games in the series have been huge hits for Naughty Dog and Sony Computer Entertainment.

Deadline reported that Tess will be a recurring character and will play a major role in the entire series. As said by co-creator Craig Mazin The Last of Us show will “fill things out and expand” on the game, so it’s certainly possible that she will be given a bigger role. The TV show is based on the concept of a post-apocalyptic world plagued by flesh-eating zombie-like creatures to the next level.
Along with Torv, the cast will also be joined by some popular actors like Game of Thrones alumni Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey as Joel and Ellie respectively. The series is currently filming according to reports by Deadline. Torv%u2019s character is the one responsible for ensuring that Joel commits to taking Ellie to a Firefly base located across the country.

Her character is ruthless and brave-willed. It will be quite interesting to watch if HBO delves more into the relationship between Joel and Tess, particularly their earlier days spent together during black market trades.
The cast also includes actors like Gabriel Luna, Jeffrey Pierce, Merle Dandridge, Nico Parker, Sarah, Con O’Neill, and Murray Bartlett to name a few of them. HBO has yet to set an official release date for the TV show, but director Kantemir Balagov recently dropped a hint that it’ll mostly premiere sometime in 2022.
