Din Djarin, probably the proudest and “flamboyant” parent in the galaxy, is traveling to the devastated Planet of Mandalore in Season 3. He must make amends in the live waters found in the Mandalore mines, the Armorer claims, for he has violated their beliefs in a serious way.

Fans are speculating that Din is being sent to the Mines of Mandalore for another reason, according to the Armorer. She is achieving her destiny by assisting Din in learning about his.

Who is The Armorer?

During the New Republic Period, ‘The Armorer’ was a female Mandalorian armorer from Mandalore who oversaw the Tribe, a group of Children of the Watch. She lived with the Tribe in a secret location on the planet Nevarro during the Galactic Empire’s Great Purge of Mandalore, forging armor and weapons for her fellow Mandalorians. She used the beskar he gave her to build a new suit of armor for the Mandalorian bounty hunter Din Djarin around 9 ABY. Around this period, she intervened to break up a fight between Paz Vizsla and Djarin by reminding them of the style of life they were expected to live.

The Armorer set out to recover as much beskar as she could from the dead Mandalorians following an Imperial raid on the covert. When she encountered Djarin and his allies, she assisted him in replenishing his supplies, announced the formation of his clan after forging his signet, and tasked him with bringing Grogu back to his own kind. However, she stayed behind to continue gathering the beskar and conceal Djarin and his allies’ escape before fleeing to a new covert she founded with Vizsla on Glavis Ringworld.

Why did The Armorer send Din to Mandalore?

There are plenty of fantasy quests that include seeking forgiveness, but what if the Armorer’s desire goes beyond that? What if she is laying the groundwork for Din to take up Mandalore’s responsibilities? What if a Ruler’s ritual involves swimming in the Living Water? An advancement in legitimacy?

What if the Mandalore mines offer more than just the chance to find salvation? What if Mando was put on trial using the mines? A trial designed to make him realize and embrace his role as the Mandalorian people’s unifier? This could shed some light on how he spoke in the Mandalorian trailer. His discourse has the cadence of a leader urging the union of his people.

Perhaps the Living Waters are a remnant of a long-forgotten Mandalorian custom reserved for kings. Perhaps there is more under the devastated planet—an oracle, sacred texts, artefacts, ordeals that Mando must endure. Consider King Arthur or King David; to become monarchs, they both had to overcome hardships or extraordinary odds.

Does The Armorer’s name hold a deeper meaning?

What if the Armorer’s contribution to Mandalore goes beyond just her profession? Maybe she thinks her job is to save the Mandalorians from extinction. She is locating and assisting Mandalorians, giving them the information and resources, they need to prevent extinction. She could have always been hoping for someone who might be able to return and revive the country. Din could have accomplished her destiny now that she possesses the Darksaber. She is now putting Din on the path to bringing Mandalore back together.
