Actors Janhvi Kapoor, Kartik Aaryan and debutante Lakshya are all set to star in the follow up of 2008 romantic-comedy ‘Dostana’, which was one of first Indian movies to explore the concept of homosexuality. Apart from the theme, another thing that is still fresh in movie lovers’ memory is actor Priyanka Chopra’s dance moves in the song ‘Desi Girl’.
Janhvi says she is well aware that she will be compared to Priyanka.
“Priyanka Chopra was iconic in Dostana. So, there is a responsibility, but it’s another film, completely different. So, I don’t know what I can do. All that I can do is the bar, the standard that she has set, you have to reach for the stars I guess, pray to God and hope that you get somewhere close,” she said in an interview with the Indian Express.
Earlier this week, the actor had also praised her co-star Kartik for signing the project.
“Dostana 2 looks at normalising homosexuality. There’s still a stigma around it. Honestly, kudos to Kartik who is mainstream and is known for being the heartthrob of the nation to take on a role that I think most actors would shy away from because it is about homosexuality,” she said, PTI reported.
Janhvi will next be seen in ‘Roohi’ which is all set to hit the theatres on March 11. The movie also stars Varun Sharma and Rajkummar Rao.
