The arrival of an upcoming retro sci-fi/comedy They Cloned Tyrone was announced at Netflix’s Tudum event. The movie marks Juel Taylor’s directorial debut, who has also co-written the script with Tony Rettenmair. Taylor has co-written for movies like Creed II, and Space Jam: Legacy. Jamie Foxx, the actor playing Slick Charles in the film, is also producing the film. 

The set-up of this movie gives the vibes of the 80s where John Boyega’s character, along with Jamie Foxx and Teyonah Parris, is prepared to expose a heinous government conspiracy.

The Netflix movie is announced to be released this year on December 30.

Cast: 

The movie cast includes actors such as John Boyega (as Fontaine), Jamie Foxx (as Slick Charles), and Teyonah Parris (as Yo-Yo), who are seen together as a trio throughout the film trailer. Apart from them, there are other important characters played by J. Alphonse Nicholson, Robert Tinsley, Kiefer Sutherland, Joshua Michel, and Tamberla Perry.

Plot:

The released trailer shows that the trio is out on a thrilling adventure where they are confronted by the government’s nefarious mystery and are shown solving it together. 

The movie revolves around the trio discovering the government’s massive secret – a surveillance plan where Black people are being monitored and are mysteriously disappearing, being replaced with clones. The characters have been portrayed in a manner so that they can fit in the 80s style of dressing. The hairstyles, beards, and overall looks will take you back in time. Boyega seems to be more assertive and serious as compared to the co-stars who are playing reckless and funny in the movie.

Having recently gained fame from the Star Wars trilogy, Boyega is seen blending into this 80s-inspired comedy and playing a restrained character. Before this, Boyega also starred in a comedy film, Attack the Block.
