Thomas Augsberger, a well-known producer and consultant for worldwide media, unexpectedly passed away at his Hollywood Hills home on Tuesday, his publicist said to Variety. He was 60 years old.

Career-
German-trained lawyer Thomas Augsberger launched Eden Rock Media, a media consultancy firm as well as a production company for films and television. Notably, high-profile media companies like Germany’s Leonine Studios were among his clientele. Augsberger worked as a consultant for the Tele Muenchen Group (TMG) for more than 20 years, acting as their only representative in North America. He was instrumental in managing TMG’s U.S. interests at this time, which included the purchase of the Mutual Film Library in 2006 and a preferred stock stake in Lionsgate Entertainment in 1999.

In his long 26-year career as a consultant, Augsberger pre-bought a number of projects, including Marvel’s Iron Man series, Voltage’s Oscar-winning “The Hurt Locker,” Paramount’s “Shutter Island,” Summit’s Twilight series, Lionsgate’s John Wick series, “Knives Out,” “The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes,” and upcoming movies like “Borderlands” and “Ballerina.”
Regarding television, Augsberger obtained licenses for shows including “Flashpoint,” “Anger Management,” and “The Night Manager” in German.
In his capacity as a producer, Augsberger was instrumental in the creation and execution of independently funded feature films, particularly when working with debut writer-directors. These projects include “Incident at Loch Ness,” directed by Zak Penn and starring Werner Herzog; “Waiting,” directed by Rob McKittrick and starring Ryan Reynolds and Anna Farris; “Mr. Brooks,” starring Kevin Costner in Bruce Evans’ film; “Tucker & Dale vs. Evil,” directed by Eli Craig and starring Tyler Labine and Alan Tudyk; and “Solace,” starring Anthony Hopkins, Colin Farrell, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, and Abbie Cornish.
