Vaishali
Takkar, an Indian television actress, died by suicide on Sunday, October 15.
Takkar was found dead at her home in Madhya Pradesh’s Indore. A household name
after her performance in Sasural Simar Ka, Vaishali Takkar began her journey in
Indian television in 2015 with India’s longest-running TV soap Ye Rishta Kya
Kehlata Hai.

Tejaji
Nagar police say Takkar hanged herself late night Saturday and the recovered
suicide note suggests she was under stress and was being harassed by an
ex-boyfriend.

Takkar’s
death has cast a pall of gloom across India’s television industry.

Vaishali
Takkar was born on July 15, 1993 in Madhya Pradesh’s Indore. She was interested
in acting from an early age. Media reports say Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam was her
favourite film.

After news
of Vaishali Takkar’s death by suicide surfaced in the media, a picture of her
and the late TV and film actor Sushant Singh Rajput started going viral on the
internet. Sushant Singh Rajput was a rising star of Hindi cinema who had
started his career in television. Rajput starred in a number of commercially
successful Hindi films, including MS Dhoni: The Untold Story, Kedarnath and
Chhichore.

On June 14,
2020, Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead hanging from a ceiling fan. The
34-year-old actor had taken his own life at his home in Mumbai’s Bandra. Rajput
had been suffering with signs of clinical depression and bipolar disorder,
media reports said at the time.

Vaishali
Takkar’s death has once again cast a spotlight on the travails of India’s entertainment
industry, as did Rajput’s back in 2020. Vaishali Takkar was engaged to be
married to a Kenyan dental surgeon named Abhinandan Singh. However, they broke up
later and the anticipated marriage was called off.

After
Sushant Singh Rajput’s death, Vaishali Takkar had said that she had cried for
two days because of the death of her close friend. When there was wide media
suspicion surrounding the circumstances of Sushant Singh Rajput’s death, Takkar
told Spotboye: “After people started saying that he was murdered, look at the
marks on his body and all, I all started seeing those pics and found something
is fishy. Initially, movie mafia was alleged for all this but now Rhea’s
(reference to Rhea Chakraborty) is also coming out.”

Asked if
she thought Rhea Chakraborty was responsible for Sushant Singh Rajput’s death,
Vaishali Takkar had said: “I feel it’s a teamwork. It’s not just one person who
has done this. I don’t know how long the trail is but definitely there are more
people involved. I also think that the real culprits are hiding behind Rhea.
She is definitely responsible for pushing him at the edge, that people are
easily believing that he committed suicide (sic).”
