Veteran Hindi film actor Mithilesh Chaturvedi died Wednesday due to heart ailment in Lucknow. He was 68 years old. The actor had performed in several television shows, including Kayamat and Neeli Chatri Wale and in films such as Koi Mil Gaya, Gadar: Ek Prem Katha and Mohalla Assi. 

Mithilesh Chaturvedi’s son-in-law Ashish Chaturvedi confirmed the news of the actor’s death on Facebook. He wrote in Hindi: “You were the world’s best father. You never treated me like a son-in-law, but like a son. May God grant peace to your soul.”

One of Chaturvedi’s most significant roles came recently when he played the ace lawyer Ram Jethmalani in the extremely popular web series titled Scam 1992 with Pratik Gandhi in the lead. Scam 1992 director Hansal Mehta mourned the loss of his friend and colleague in an Instagram story. The actor was also scheduled to appear in the web-series Talli Joddi.

Mithilesh Trivedi has worked with several legends of the Hindi film industry as well as stark newcomers. He was known for having led a simple life and stayed away from Bollywood parties. 

After news of his death spread on social media, fans of the actor mourned his laws. “Actor Mithilesh Chaturvedi passed on today. Satya tribe will remember him as Builder Malhotra. Godspeed,” wrote one fan on Twitter

“Well-known theatre and film actor #MithileshChaturvedi passes away after suffering heart ailment. May his departed soul rest in peace,” another fan tweeted. 

Chaturvedi was recently seen in Amitabh Bachchan-starrer Gulabo Sitabo and in the webseries Patiala Babes. 

One of the actor’s most iconic roles came with Ram Gopal Varma’s Satya where he played the role of Builder Malhotra. In Hrithik Roshan-starrer Koi Mil Gaya, Mithilesh Trivedi played the role of a computer teacher. 

In Sunny Deol-starrer Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, Mithilesh Trivedi played a newspaper editor. The film, based on India’s partition in 1947, had earned both commercial and critical success.
