A video of a monkey looking amazed by a magic trick has gone viral on social media in a span of one week. The video was originally shared on TikTok and it shows a man performing his magic trick to a monkey and leaving it in complete awe of what he had done.

The man identified as Maximiliano Ibarra was visiting the Chapultepec Zoo in Mexico. He decided to perform a simple vanquishing trick in front of a monkey. It was the genuine reaction of the animal to the trick which has made the video viral online.

The monkey, a Japanese macaque, can be seen sitting close to the glass front of its enclosure and did not pay too much attention to the zoo visitor initially. The ape had been focussed on eating something off the ground.

Maxmiliano Ibarra held out what appeared to be a leaf towards the monkey. When Ibarra made the leaf vanish with a sleight of hand trick, the macaque leapt forward. The monkey’s jaw fell open as the leaf disappeared in front of his eyes. The video also recorded the hilarious moment when the animal stares at the zoo-visitor wide eyed.

Mr Ibarra then made the leaf ‘reappear’ by running his hand over it. The monkey is then seen running up and down the enclosure. The macaque put his hand over his mouth, as if too stunned by what he had just seen. The monkey can also be seen looking over its shoulder in order to check if anyone else has been seeing the tricks which had amazed him.

The animal’s reaction to the trick has delighted many viewers and the video has been viewed nearly 2 million times on TikTok. The video was first shared last week on Tiktok and has now found its way across social media. Many commented how hilarious yet amazing it was to watch the intelligence of monkeys.
