Could you have ever imagined getting the contact details of the iconic former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag? We neither. Turns out, Sehwag has left his fans flummoxed by posting his mobile number on his official Twitter handle. You heard it right.

Of course, it is not his personal number where you could simply have a chat with him. Life’s not all rainbows and sunshine. *Sigh*

Virender Sehwag took to Twitter to tell his fans that he had lost his phone in the shower and wrote, “Dropped my phone in the shower, getting it fixed, call me on 9112083319”.

Fans have been wondering if it was a marketing gimmick, reacting hilariously to the tweet

Here are some of the reactions that’ll leave you in splits.

While some thought it could be a marketing gimmick, some even reported being redirected to phishing websites.

Others speculated that maybe his number got hacked or it could be a paid tweet.

One of the users found a relation between the phone number and his highest individual score in Test cricket and score in World Cup 2003 final.

Opoyi called the number and received an automated voice message saying, “You didn’t think twice before giving me a call, why think twice to uncompromise. Find my new brand online and make no compromise. Neither on quality nor on price. www.iamnottellingyou.com. All the best!”

Virender Sehwag launched a sportswear and activewear brand last year in Ahmedabad. The former cricketer is now expanding his business online to cater to clients nationwide. “The brand has been conceived to cater to the fitness and sporting needs of millions of young people across India who need the right material, quality, fit and design in athleisure to go about their regimens, but end up compromising either on quality or price, owing to a gap in the segment,” said Sehwag in a statement.

While nothing has been confirmed officially about the purpose of this phone number gimmick, it is speculated that the promotion of ‘VS By Sehwag’ could be the purpose of it all.
