VMA 2022 will be a ceremony of many firsts, as Bad Bunny has become the first Latin artist to be nominated for the Best Artist of the Year category. 1. Kanye West interrupts Taylor Swift (2005)

Forever etched on the memories of the viewers, this incident surely tops our list. The Bad Blood singer, Taylor Swift was about to give her acceptance speech when she was abruptly interrupted by Kanye West. The American rapper rushed to the stage and credited Beyonce for her video. Stealing the spotlight from Swift’s glorious win, Kanye shouted, “Imma let you finish, but Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time!”

However, Taylor took her revenge when she used some phrases of Kanye’s words in a jam joke with Ed Sheeran.

2. Lady Gaga’s Meat Dress (2010)

Lady Gaga is renowned for her unique fashion style. However, fans were absolutely shocked to see Gaga wear a ‘meat dress’ to VMA 2010. She wore 40 pounds of Argentinian beef that was carved into a dress by designer Franc Fernandez, who also made a matching hat, pursue and beef-wrapped heels to with the outfit. Gaga later told Ellen DeGeneres in an interview that the meat dress was her way of making a statement against the military’s “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell” policy and against governmental restrictions on gay soldiers’ rights. “It has many interpretations, but for me this evening, it’s ‘If we don’t stand up for what we believe in, if we don’t fight for our rights, pretty soon we’re going to have as much rights as the meat on our bones.’ “

3. Miley, what’s good? (2015)

The internet world was taken by a storm, when enmity brewed between American rapper Nicki Minaj and Plastic Hearts singer Miley Cyrus. In an interview with New York Times, Miley expressed her views on Minaj and said, “Not to sound like a bitch, but that’s like, ‘Eh, I didn’t get my VMA’… If you want to make it about race, there’s a way you could do that. But don’t make it just about yourself.” Days later, when Nicki won the Best Hip Hop video, she confront Miley during her acceptance speech and said, “Back to this bitch who had a lot to say about me the other day in the press. Miley, what’s good?” Miley, who hosted VMA 2013, responded, “We’re all in this industry. We all do interviews, and we all know how they manipulate shit. Nicki, Congratu-fucking-lations.”
