The K-pop group BTS performed at the 2021 Global Citizen Music Festival on Saturday. The band did not appear at the event in person, but filmed their performance from Seoul.

Within an hour of the video being shared on United Nations’ YouTube channel, it received over 437,309 views.

Meanwhile, several of the band’s fans shared their excitement on Twitter. 

“Jimin once again leaving us all spell-bound with this dazzling performance showcasing his ability to command the stage like no other with his honey vocals and incredible dance skills,” one person wrote. 

“JUNGKOOK’s voice is really a tool in itself. His voice is so melodious and soothing, Even if the emotional one is erased, his voice Will fill The void,” wrote another user. 

“Jungkook’s vocals as always so clear and strong. All the adlibs at the end so beautiful. He did so well!” another user commented.

Global Citizen began in 2008 with an aim to combat extreme poverty around the world. 

“Global Citizen Live is part of Global Citizen’s 2021 global campaign, a Recovery Plan for the World. The Recovery Plan focuses on five key objectives: ending COVID-19 for all, ending the hunger crisis, resuming learning for all, protecting the planet, and advancing equity for all,” the organisation’s website states. 

 Elton John, Lizzo, Chloe x Halle, Demi Lovato, Stevie Wonder and Adam Lambert were some of the other artists who performed at this year’s event. 

Last week, BTS addressed the world leaders at United Nations General Assembly and also performed their song ‘Permission to Dance’. Their fans thronged the United Nations’ official YouTube channel to see their favourite band on the stage. Over 980,000 viewers were tuned in on UN’s official YouTube channel and tens of thousands of others viewed on other YouTube channels and platforms.
