Boxing
legend Evander Holyfield returned to the ring for the first time in a decade,
taking on former mixed martial art star Vitor Belfort in Hollywood, Florida on Saturday.
And in the commentary seat was none other than former United States President Donald Trump,
accompanied by his son Donald Trump Jr, former UFC star Jorge Masvidal and
former WWE announcer Todd Grisham.

Watch the
crowd going wild as Trump entered the arena ahead of the fight.

Thanking
the crowd, Trump said it was an “honour” to be there. “I think you’re gonna see
an incredible fight” he said.

59-year-old
Holyfield, whose ear Mike Tyson had once famously bitten, is replacing another
boxing legend Oscar De La Hoya for the main card. De La Hoya is a gold
medallist from the 1992 Olympics and an 11-time world champion across six
weight divisions.

The
48-year-old had to pull out of the fight as he contracted COVID-19.

Trump’s
appearance at the fight was subject to some controversy – being a former president
and commentating on a boxing match on the 20th anniversary of the 9/11
attacks
.

“I love
great fighters and great fights. I look forward to seeing both this Saturday
night and sharing my thoughts ringside. You won’t want to miss this special
event,” he said in a statement ahead of the fight.

Holyfield,
the only man to have won the world heavyweight title four times, is turning 59
in October and has not fought since 2011. Authorities in New York barred
Holyfield from fighting due to his ‘poor performances and diminished skills’ in
2004.

Meanwhile,
in the other events of the night, MMA icon Anderson Silva defeated Tito Ortiz by KO, and Trump was impressed with the fight. “Wow, that’s something! So is he known as much of a puncher? Really good,” he said.

Also, Jono Caroll defeated Andy Vences and David Haye emerged victorious over
close friend Joe Fournier. Trump was not very impressed with the latter fight, as Haye won with a pretty soft knockout.

“Right now, audiences like politics better,” Trump said.
