American rock band Saliva’s guitarist and founding member Wayne Swinny passed away at the age of 59. Only a few hours earlier, the band had announced that Swinny had had a brain hemorrhage on Tuesday and had been placed in critical care.

Wayne Swinny Cause of Death: 

A representative said in a statement, “It is with great sadness that we report the passing of Wayne Swinny, the guitarist of Saliva. Wayne passed away this afternoon from a spontaneous brain hemorrhage while on tour.”

A brain aneurysm rupture is the most frequent cause of a subarachnoid hemorrhage, according to the NHS. A brain aneurysm typically doesn’t show any symptoms until it bursts.

Although a number of risk factors, including smoking, high blood pressure, and excessive alcohol use, have been identified, the actual cause of some people’s brain aneurysms is still unknown.

Rock band Saliva formed in Memphis, Tennessee in 1996.

Saliva was created by Swinny with vocalist Josey Scott, guitarist Chris Dabaldo, bassist Dave Novotny, and drummer Paul Crosby. The group is renowned for its angsty mix of hard rock and hip-hop. The band’s self-titled debut album was released in 1997, and “Every Six Seconds,” their major-label debut, was released in March 2001.

The album’s lead song “Your Disease,” went on to sell 1 million copies and garnered the band a Grammy nomination in 2002 for best hard rock performance. Moreover, their album Back into Your System featured Always, one of their most popular songs, which peaked at number one on the Modern Rock Chart.

After the exits of vocalist Josey Scott in 2011 and bassist Dave Novotny in 2015, Swinny was the only surviving member of Saliva’s original lineup.
