Alfred “Weird Al” Yankovic has announced his Australian
theatre tour for March 2023, his first tour of the country in seven years. The
musical comedian and his band will be visiting the country for their ‘The
Unfortunate Return of the Ridiculously Self-Indulgent, Ill-Advised Vanity
Tour.’

The forthcoming tour will be a sequel to the Ridiculously
Self-Indulgent and Ill-Advised Vanity Tour that took place across North America
in 2018. According to the reports, this tour is a musical comedy that will focus
on original mean non-parody fan favorites from the artist’s 14-album catalog.

The tour will feature scaled-down production values – “no
costumes, props or video screens” – in more intimate theatre settings than
earlier. Setlists for the shows give up much of Al’s direct parody work,
instead focusing on originals like ‘Albuquerque’, ‘Dare to Be Stupid’, ‘The
Night Santa Went Crazy’, ‘Christmas at Ground Zero’ and ‘Craigslist’.

Weird Al Yankovic has earlier said that he doesn’t often
get an opportunity to tour outside of North America. Therefore, it’s a
thrilling prospect for him to come back to Australia to perform. He has
performed at the Australian Falls Festival with some great shows in the past.
