Jamie Foxx suffered a “medical emergency” on Tuesday and was hospitalized. His daughter actor Corinne Foxx said in a statement posted on social media that the actor is now recovering. TMZ reports that when the actor was hospitalized, his condition was so critical that several of his family members came to the hospital to see him.

In the statement headlined “From the Foxx family”, Corinne Fox said, “We wanted to share that, my father, Jamie Foxx, experienced a medical complication yesterday. Luckily, due to quick action and great care, he is already on his way to recovery. We know how beloved he is and appreciate your prayers. The family asks for privacy during this time.”

As of now, it is unclear for how long the actor will be in the hospital receiving treatment. It is also not known what symptoms he experienced, as well as the nature of the complication.

Foxx is currently shooting for a film called Back in Action alongside Cameroon Diaz and Glenn Close. It is not clear if his illness has affected the shooting schedule.

Foxx has multiple new shows with Netflix, including a sitcom called Dad Stop Embarrassing Me!, a drama called Alert, and a sci-fi movie called They Cloned Tyrone. He also stars in a movie called Day Shift where he plays a hard-working, blue-collar dad whose mundane San Fernando Valley pool cleaning job is a front for his real source of income: hunting and killing vampires.

Apart from Back In Action, he has several other projects in pre-production or early stages such as All-Star Weekend, Tin Soldier, as well as The Burial.
