Spanish and Puerto Rican singers Rosalía and Rauw Alejandro announced that they were ending their engagement as they go their separate ways in life.

The former couple announced their engagement in March. They are calling quits on their relationship after more than three years of dating each other, according to People Magazine. According to sources cited by the publication, the duo continue to love and respect each other despite their split. The reason behind their split was not immediately made clear.

The 30-year-old singers were first romantically linked in August 2021.

Rosalia and Rauw Alejandro’s tattoos

Rosalia revealed in March 2022 that she “RR” tattooed on her foot. She told Teen Vogue that she had given Alejandro a heads-up that she would be inking the initials that they both shared. Alejandro’s given last name is Ruiz.

Alejandro revealed next month that he had decided to return the romantic gesture by inking “Rosalía” above his navel in a handwritten font.

The former couple announced the news of their engagement in a music video for their song Beso in March this year, on their joint EP RR.

They also candidly opened up about their relationship in an interview with Billboard in the same month.

“Rosi has a more solid music base than I do in the sense that I’m more extroverted in my music, but she’s far more disciplined,” Alejandro told the outlet. “But she’s a freak-crazy workaholic. Piano lessons, dance lessons, voice lessons; what else can you learn when no one sings like you? At the beginning, I didn’t really get it, but after some time, I said, ‘OK, let me try to follow her lead and see.’ And the difference is huge.”

Rosalía, on the other hand, gave her then-fiancé credit for being “far more relaxed” than she is. “Of course my career is super important in my life, but at the same time, in my life, you’re my companion, and everything else comes second,” she told Alejandro during the interview.

It is not clear if they will be getting their tattoos removed following their announcement of a split.
